19th Century Victorian-era reproduction of American Civil War officer chair, dating back to 1887. This style of folding chair initially became popular during the American Civil War, when it used by officers, and was subsequently revived in the Victorian Era. These elegant, functional, and field-tested designs are representative of traditional American craftsmanship.

The chairs' components, including the wool upholstered seat, are all original. The washed green and pink Victorian upholstery features floral, geometric medallions. Hardware includes pre-Phillips head screws, consistent with age and patina.

The Readsboro Chair Factory was started in 1873 in Readsboro, Vermont and sold a variety of furniture pieces throughout the country. Their most popular items were folding desks and chairs, used in auditoriums, meeting places, and steamships. These particular folding chairs were made after 1887 and before 1913. (Dated using the company's name records.)

Excellent vintage condition with no notable damage.
