19th Century Victorian-era reproduction of American Civil War officer chair, dating back to 1887. This style of folding chair initially became popular during the American Civil War, when it used by officers, and was subsequently revived in the Victorian Era. These elegant, functional, and field-tested designs are representative of traditional American craftsmanship.
These particular chairs were purchased by a Frank J. McCardle (his name is painted on the back). Mr. McCardle may have owned a local funeral business in Kingston, New York. (NOTE: Only one features the name on the back.)
Featuring a faux-bamboo finish that was popular at the time, the chairs' components, including the indigo blue canvas seat, are all original. Hardware includes pre-Phillips head screws, consistent with age and patina.
Excellent vintage condition with no notable damage. Two available, priced individually.
