First introduced in 1958 by Danish architect Jørgen Rasmussen, the Kevi chair was born from a simple idea: form should follow function without excess. Its clean lines, sculpted seat, and no-nonsense profile made it a quiet revolution in office seating.

In 1965, Rasmussen perfected what would become the chair’s most iconic feature: the double-wheel Kevi castor. This small innovation gave the chair a fluid mobility and durability that transformed how people moved through their working lives. It quickly became a design standard adopted worldwide.

The earliest Kevi models rested on a four-spoke swivel base, common for mid-century task chairs. By the 1970s, however, the design shifted to the now-familiar five-spoke star base. This update wasn’t just aesthetic: the fifth leg answered to evolving international safety and stability standards, ensuring the chair remained balanced even under the strain of modern office use.

This vintage model features the original Kelly Green Upholstery.
